What is Spiritual Science?

Spiritual Science is a process whereby knowledge of the soul is derived from a systematic study of the things we perceive with our senses, including the intuition.

Spiritual Science has no doctrine or scripture. It is the study of all religions and belief systems, taking from them the best that each has to offer. Spiritual Science also includes the practice of meditation and constant observation of one’s thoughts, words and deeds. It is a disciplined philosophical way of life.

Philosophy is defined as the perfect science and the science of perfection. The word philosophy means friendship for, or love of, wisdom. Those who study and practice Spiritual Science are lovers of wisdom, whose lives are devoted to the discovery and application of truth. Plato wrote, “Philosophy is the greatest good which the gods have conferred upon men.”

Spiritual Science is an open-ended system of thought. It continually grows as humankind evolves, drawing on the frontiers of human knowledge as well as the wisdom of the ages. It works in harmony with the basic tenets of all the world religions. It teaches that each individual is a divine being who is the master of his or her own destiny.

The teachings hold each individual responsible for his or her thoughts, words and deeds. To the degree that each individual connects with the Divine determines the degree of success, harmony and peace of mind in one’s life. Spiritual Science encourages the individual to think, not what to think. The goal is not to teach what to believe but rather why we believe the things we believe. There is no emphasis on a particular path to take in order to become spiritually enlightened. Instead, it simply explains that we are all on one path or another, each path leading in the same direction, toward self-realization and God-realization. It is the Wisdom of the Ages, preserved and passed down by great thinkers and sages to those who are ready to truly and sincerely learn the art of conscious living.

As a religion, Spiritual Science is a metaphysical expression of the universal truths revealed in all world religions. All religions are acknowledged as having value in their teachings.

As a philosophy, Spiritual Science is a practical, easily applied way of thinking about the nature of the universe and our relationship to it. When we understand ourselves to be both creations and co-creators of the universe, we are then capable of expressing the unlimited potential within us.
